Long Description Burn 01 was inspired by a true piece of Bronco history — decommissioned NASA liquid oxygen rocket tanks salvaged by John Franzia over 55 years ago and repurposed for sparkling wine production. Reintroduced to Bronco in the 1990s by Paul Franzia, this legacy of innovation sparked the creation of Burn 01: an “out of this world” sparkling wine bursting with peach, lemon, and grapefruit notes, crafted for sipping chilled or mixing into spritzes. Inspired by exploration, reinvention, and the pioneering spirit of Theresa Franzia, Burn 01 celebrates creativity, courage, and flavor without limits. Tasting Notes Aromas of lemon-lime citrus and freshly baked brioche lead on the nose. Layers of tropical fruit carry across the palate, supported by a deep, textured mouthfeel derived from extended lees aging in bottle. The wine finishes with exceptional acidity, precision, and energy. Brand Family Story 55 years ago, John Franzia got his hands on decommissioned stainless steel Liquid Oxygen Tanks from NASA and salvaged them to use in making sparkling wine. The tanks were sold along with the Franzia Winery in 1973. In the early 1990’s the tanks re-entered the Bronco orbit for a second time and were moved by John’s son Paul into their current location in Ceres. The result, our first sparkling wine branded from this unreal part of Broncos history and its truly out of this world. Created by winemaker Blair Guthrie and the Bronco Wine Co. Our label design and character pay homage to this spirit of exploration. Inspired by the matriarch of the Bronco winery, Theresa Franzia. Her vision and courage in the early 20th century launched the Franzia and ultimately the Bronco Winery.
