Old Fashioned

• • Ingredients: 2 parts Maker’s Mark Bourbon 1 sugar cube (or ½ part simple syrup) 2 dashes Angostura Bitters Orange peel (for garnish) Ice cubes or one large ice cube• Method: In a rocks glass, place the sugar cube and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Muddle the sugar and bitters together until dissolved. (If using simple syrup, just stir them together.) Add 2 parts Maker’s Mark bourbon and a large ice cube (or a few smaller ones). Stir gently for about 20–30 seconds to chill and slightly dilute the drink. Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by squeezing it, then drop it in as a garnish.• Garnish: Old fashioned glass, orange zest and ice.
