Range Description Long Tales of The Macallan Volume II pays homage to Alexander Reid, founder of The Macallan. On our 200th anniversary year, this edition depicts Alexander – teacher, farmer and distiller – on his way to the ultimate mastery. Alexander established the Distillery on Easter Elchies Estate in 1824. Holding firm that small stills gave better flavour and character, he resisted the movement of the time to higher-volume stills. Curiously Small Stills remain one of our Six Pillars – and a feature of our new Distillery.
