Long Form Brand Story/HistoryEach year Hirsch Select Whiskeys releases some of our boldest whiskeys as Double Oak Single Barrels.  Many variables can affect a whiskey, including the barrel’s wood grain, storage location, aging, grains, and more, which can create a unique flavor profile to that single barrel. HIRSCH The Single Barrel Double Oak releases are aged at least eight years in a New American Oak barrel with a char #4 and finished in a custom char #1 New American Oak barrel for one year. Although the flavor profile of single barrels may vary from barrel to barrel, here are general tasting notes of what you can expect from the Double Oak Single Barrels: maple sweet on the nose, with layers of caramel, fig, and tobacco, all held together by a soft oak presence. On the palate, you get leather, baking spice, vanilla, and caramel. No more than 30 barrels are released annually.
