Long Form Brand Story/History The art of crafting The Reid Single Malt Vodka begins in the Cardrona Valley with the careful selection of the finest raw materials. Water: The Reid prides itself on using water from a pristine source nestled deep in the Crown Range Mountains of New Zealand. The water is sweet – the first ingredient in making The Reid Single Malt Vodka. Barley: Our barley is grown on the rich fertile plains of the South Island of New Zealand. The malted barley is milled on site at the distillery and then combined with pristine alpine water in a Forsyth Lauter mash tun. Yeast: Distiller’s yeast is added, and the magic of fermentation begins. Our fermentation length is a minimum of 70 hours. After fermentation, we distil twice using German-made Jacob Carl column stills. To preserve the exquisite character of The Reid, we do not use utilise chill nor charcoal filtration. The Reid is then packaged by hand into its iconic bottle on site at our distillery
