Simply install a hard drive in the PORTADISK and it becomes a completely portable drive that connects via a parallel port. Able to auto-detect the hard drive parameters of the workstation it is connecting to, the StarTech.com PORTADISK is the perfect solution for any workspace where the volume on one hard drive needs to be transferred to another computer. We’ll provide you with all of the cables you’ll need in order to get connected. The DOS driver uses only 6.7kb of upper memory and the device features a write-protection switch to prevent the accidental modification of data. The software driver can also auto-detect an Enhanced Capabilities port (ECP) and utilize it to triple the transfer rate to increase efficiency and speed. Finally, up to 3 PORTADISKs can be used on one computer at a rate of 1 per LPT port, while there is a pass through parallel port for a printer so the LPT is not dedicated to the PORTADISK.
