Both the bay and enclosure are compatible with Seagate GoFlex and other USM interface devices, and support SATA III transfer speeds up to 6.0 Gbps. USM (Universal Storage Module) is a portable drive standard that interfaces with SATA and enables you to hot-swap drives between multiple host devices. Using the included USM to USB 3.0 adapter, the enclosure can also be connected externally to non-USM host devices via USB. Plus, with support for UASP, the enclosure performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller. For even more versatility, StarTech.com offers the S2510U33USM, an additional 2.5in USM SATA Hard Drive Enclosure, which offers the option to swap multiple drives in and out of the main computer as needed. The USM removable hard drive bay interfaces with SATA, and can be mounted into any 5.25" front bay, to provide a hot-swappable mobile rack. The bay features push-button ejection allowing drives to easily be installed and removed from the computer system.
