- You can use most M.2 NVMe or 2.5in drives without connecting the universal power adapter, as the USB connection provides sufficient bus power. The included universal power adapter is required when using a 3.5in SATA drive, connecting two drives at the same time, or if your M.2 NVMe drive requires more power than the USB connection can provide.
