| Long Description | Tequila Ocho Reposado Barrel Proof is rested for 8 weeks in seasoned ex-American whiskey barrels, the bare minimum amount of time as required by law. This aging process imparts complexity while allowing for maximum agave presence. The bold agave flavors, as only Carlos and Tomas would have it, are proof that terroir exists in tequila.
Like all of Tequila Ocho, only three ingredients are used: agave, natural airborne yeast, and water. Production is done the slow, artisanal way with patience in each step. Solely overripe agaves are harvested from Los Altos, or the Highlands, before being slow-cooked in brick ovens for 48 hours and laid to cool for another 24 hours. The agaves are roller-mill crushed, fermented using natural airborne yeast, and double-pot distilled at low temperatures, first in stainless steel with copper components, second in full copper pots. Reposado is then aged for 8 weeks in ex-American whiskey barrels.
On the nose, it offers notes of rich fruits with vanilla and butterscotch. The palate is smooth with sweet cooked agave notes complemented with sweet spice, cinnamon, and delicate vanilla, resulting in a long, creamy finish. |

| Brand Story | Tequila Ocho was founded in 2008 by fifth-generation agave farmer and third-generation tequilero Carlos Camarena, and famed tequila ambassador Tomas Estes, the man responsible for bringing tequila culture to Europe. Inspired by the heritage and process surrounding fine wine, their shared mission was to prove that terroir exists in tequila by creating a spirit that reflects the pure character of blue Weber agave and the land in which it grows.
Ocho became the world’s first single-estate tequila, crafted using traditional, sustainable methods and made only with agave, water, and natural airborne yeast. Today, Ocho continues its terroir-driven philosophy through both Single Estate vintages and Terroir Select vintages, which explores regional identity on a broader scale. Every bottle showcases a unique expression of terroir throughout Los Altos, or the Highlands, allowing the soil, climate, and growing conditions to shine clearly in every sip.
Whether capturing the distinct profile of a single field or the layered character of a single region, every bottle of Ocho remains a true expression of the land, continuously proving terroir exists in tequila. |
