Extraction forceps are used to remove teeth or root debris after they have been completely loosened with an elevator or luxator. We distinguish 2 types: tooth extraction forceps and root forceps. With tooth extraction forceps, the top does not close completely to avoid tooth fractures. With root extraction forceps, the top closes completely. Due to the wide variety of teeth, universal extraction forceps do not exist.
