Designed for automotive, truck and bus applications where very aggressive room temperature and high temperature holding is required. Long Description Our Scotch® High Performance Masking Tape 2693 offers a high level of paint masking performance with high solids paints and urethane clear coats used in the transportation industry where its holding power resists the most stringent applications and bake cycles. Easy, clean removal when either warm or cold from most surfaces without adhesive transfer. Scotch® High Performance Masking Tape 2693 has been laboratory tested on painted steel panels and found to remove cleanly at bake temperatures up to 325° F/ 163° C for 30 minutes.Our tape also demonstrates high resistance to adhesive transfer on automotive type rubber moldings when removed at room temperatures. Of course, the actual temperature and time performance may be higher or lower for a given application. It also delivers excellent conformability and tear properties for irregular paint surfaces. The smoothness of the backing makes this tape very user friendly. Additionally, excellent paint flake resistance and balanced construction with a strong backing provides easy removal without slivering.The crepe paper backing tears easily, offers moderate conformability, and lifts off cleanly. The natural rubber adhesive bonds well to paper, metal, drywall, wood, and painted surfaces with reliable holding power that resists lifting and curling. Under normal operating conditions our tape features one piece removal and is sliver resistant.Masking tape was developed specifically to help protect surrounding surfaces from overspray, provide clean paint lines, and remove easily and cleanly when finished. The backing, typically crepe paper, sticks when applied to curved and irregular surfaces without lifting or curling. Various masking tapes are designed for different applications and should be removed within their specified time range. A very thin or poorly manufactured tape may splinter or shred when coming off the roll or being removed after use. We designed our masking tapes to adhere well, resist solvents or water from the paint, and be strong enough to hang plastic sheeting, yet remove cleanly without damaging the subsurface.
