Her family credits her with the fire that has led to the continued success of Riboli Family Wine Estates through the generations. The Maddalena wine portfolio is made up of seven varietals whose bold, yet humble flavors reflect the fiery passion and personality of their namesake. Shaped by the values of Maddalena Riboli, the matriarch and girl boss who built a wine empire out of one small LA winery, this modernized “young Maddalena” is a strong female who has a love for life and is on a mission to turn her dreams and business goals into a tangible reality. She is fresh and approachable, but is filled with fierce determination and is uncompromising about the quality of things. This is reflected in the artisan wines in this collection. Short Product Description Maddalena Chardonnay comes from four cool-climate vineyards in the Monterey appellation, including Sarmento of Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, Loma Vista of Arroyo Seco AVA, and Rancho Soledad on Monterey AVA. 60% percent of this Chardonnay was barrel fermented in small American oak barrels giving the wine a beautifully rounded mouthfeel and lovely touches of well-integrated toasty oak. Fruit aromas and flavors include tropical guava, Meyer lemon and fresh squeezed orange, with additional notes of white flower and spice. Long Product Description Maddalena Chardonnay comes from four cool-climate vineyards in the Monterey AVA, including Sarmento in the Santa Lucia Highlands near the Soledad Mission, and Loma Vista in Arroyo Seco. All four sites benefit from a maritime climate, with foggy mornings and sunny, breezy afternoons. This translates to plenty of hang time for our Chardonnay grapes, leading to wines with great flavor development and lovely acidity. Seventy-four percent of this California Chardonnay was barrel fermented in small American oak barrels giving the wine a beautifully rounded mouthfeel and lovely touches of well-integrated toasty oak. Fruit aromas and flavors include tropical guava, Meyer lemon, and freshly squeezed orange, with additional notes of white flower and spice. Forty-five percent of the wine went through malolactic fermentation, imparting a subtle buttery component. The natural acidity gives the wine structure and a lingering finish. Sustainability is our top priority. Our Paso Robles and Monterey vineyards are certified sustainable by CSWA. Tasting Notes Crafted with precision and care, the 2022 Maddalena Chardonnay was fermented in both stainless steel and French and American oak, undergoing partial malolactic fermentation. The resulting wine has a luxurious rounded mouthfeel infused with subtle nuances of toasty oak. The aromas of fragrant tropical guava and fresh citrus are interwoven with delicate white floral notes and a hint of spice. The velvety texture is balanced by the natural acidity and ends with a lingering, memorable finish.
