  • Brand StoryThrough hard work and intelligence, Maddalena Riboli excelled in the male-dominated wine industry to open California’s first tasting rooms in 1947. Her family credits her with the fire that has led to the continued success of Riboli Family Wine Estates through the generations. The Maddalena wine portfolio is made up of seven varietals whose bold, yet humble flavors reflect the fiery passion and personality of their namesake. Shaped by the values of Maddalena Riboli, the matriarch and girl boss who built a wine empire out of one small LA winery, this modernized “young Maddalena” is a strong female who has a love for life and is on a mission to turn her dreams and business goals into a tangible reality. She is fresh and approachable, but is filled with fierce determination and is uncompromising about the quality of things. This is reflected in the artisan wines in this collection.

Long Product DescriptionMaddalena Chardonnay comes from two cool-climate vineyards in the Monterey AVA, including El Camino which is in the Arroyo Seco area of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Both sites benefit from a maritime climate, with foggy mornings and sunny, breezy afternoons. This translates to plenty of hang time for our Chardonnay grapes, leading to wines with great flavor development and lovely acidity. Fifty percent of this California Chardonnay was barrel fermented in small American & French oak barrels giving the wine a beautifully rounded mouthfeel and lovely touches of well-integrated toasty oak. Fruit aromas and flavors include tropical guava, Meyer lemon, and freshly squeezed orange, with additional notes of white flower and spice. The natural acidity gives the wine structure and a lingering finish. Sustainability is our top priority. Our Paso Robles and Monterey vineyards are certified sustainable by CSWA.
