The labels showcase the artwork of the 16th century cathedral of San Antonio de Padua in northern Italy, home of St Anthony, the patron saint of the family’s founder, uncle Santo Cambianica. These wines are produced entirely of California grapes and represent both semi sweet and dry wines. These were the livelihood of the company and along with the sacramental communion wines, were the main wine types produced in the early days of southern California winemaking and grape-growing. Long Product Description San Antonio Madeira White Wine shows nutty, oxidized characters of Flor yeast with a light amber color, making it similar to Sercial from the island of Madeira. San Antonio is one of the last wineries to specialize in the production of fine dessert wines. These wines serve multiple purposes — they can be enjoyed as dessert beverages or used as flavor ingredients for food preparation in both home and restaurant kitchens. Fortified wines are made by adding brandy to partially fermented grape must, which arrests fermentation and creates a sweet wine with high sugar content. San Antonio uses grapes renowned for the creation of fine dessert wines, grown exclusively in California’s warm San Joaquin Valley. San Antonio Madeira is made from 100% wine, not mixed with water, and contains no added salt.
