  • Brand StoryLa Quinta refers to the great vineyard estates of Portugal, famous for their production of outstanding dessert wines. California also shares a long history of crafting fine dessert wines. The warm, dry climate allows for the thorough maturation of grapes with ripe sugars and concentrated flavors. La Quinta is an invitation to enjoy the fine dessert wines of California’s past.
Short Product DescriptionLa Quinta Syrah Port is considered a ruby port due to its dark red color. Paso Robles provides an ideal climate for the ripening of Syrah grapes to 25-27º Brix. Each variety is then harvested and fermented separately. At approximately 8-10º Brix, California brandy is added to arrest the fermentation.
Long Product DescriptionLa Quinta Syrah Port is considered a ruby port due to its dark red color and is crafted solely from Syrah grapes cultivated in Paso Robles, an area offering the perfect climate for this grape's full maturation. These grapes are left on the vine to attain high sugar levels (26-28 Brix) before being picked. After harvesting, each variety undergoes individual fermentation. Natural yeasts kickstart the fermentation, but when the sugar content reaches 8-10 Brix, California brandy is introduced to halt the process, leaving the wine with a sweet taste from the residual sugar. This young port then matures in pre-used French and American oak barrels for a minimum of two years. A full-bodied style port, enjoy this wine after dinner with dried fruits, nuts, and fine cheeses, such as Stilton or Sharp Cheddar.
