This cool climate is ideal for crafting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that reflect the true terroir of this small but mighty winegrowing appellation in Monterey. Short Product Description Windstream Chardonnay is a single vineyard wine from the Sarmento Vineyard, located within the prestigious Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey County. This Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented in small French oak barrels – 94% new – with 64% of the wine undergoing a secondary malolactic fermentation. Light gold in color, the wine rushes in with potent fruit notes of pineapple and grapefruit unfolding to reveal dried fruits, nuts, brown sugar, and spice. With a full body and lovely texture, this Chardonnay provides a rich, mouth-filling experience that stays well-balanced due to natural acidity. Coating tannins make for a long finish that lingers with hints of mineral, vanilla, and almonds Long Product Description The maritime influence of the Pacific Ocean creates morning fog and afternoon winds: an ideal climate for producing world-class Burgundian varietals. This “stream of winds” directly affects the Sarmento Vineyard, which is located in the prestigious Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey. The soil is well-drained loamy sand with many fist-sized cobblestones. Winemakers Anthony Riboli and Arnaud Debons employ traditional techniques and modern technology to create wines that express ripe fruit flavors with balance and finesse.
