The word ‘opaque’ means “impenetrable to light” and refers to the dark, inky color of brand’s esteemed varietals. Opaque’s flagship wine is the Darkness red blend, which combines Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot. Other standalone bottlings include unique varietals such as Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Zinfandel. The Riboli Family has made a steadfast commitment to producing the highest quality grapes from estate vineyards in two of the most prestigious regions along California’s Central Coast: Monterey and Paso Robles. Our vineyards are meticulously farmed to yield grapes with concentrated flavors and aromas and our winemaking techniques create unique wines of the highest quality and character. We pay special attention to the cultivation of our vineyards, confident you’ll taste the fruits of our passion in the complexity of our wines. Short Product Description Originally from Basque country on the border between France and Spain, Tannat is named from a French word referring to “tanned” or its deep color. We were so impressed by this wine that we bottled it without any blending. After aging in French oak barrels for 18 months, our wine reveals concentrated black plum and blueberry aromas with a touch of dry earth and leather. On the palate, it is dense with dark fruit flavors and a peppery spice with structured tannins that provide texture and depth with a lengthy finish.
