Produced at a family-owned distillery, established in 1906 in Moncalieri, Torino, ITALICUS is a delicate combination of Roman chamomile from Lazio, lavender, gentian, yellow roses and melissa balm from Northern Italy. These ingredients are macerated together for several days before blending with the bergamot and cedro essential oils to create the final aperitivo. Vineyard History ITALICUS was created by the authority in Italian spirits, Giuseppe Gallo to bring back the forgotten Rosolio category. ITALICUS is produced at a family-owned distillery, established in 1906 in Moncalieri, Torino and sources each of its ingredients from across Italy. Product History ITALICUS was created by the authority in Italian spirits, Giuseppe Gallo, to bring back the forgotten Rosolio category, once the main aperitivo drunk by the King of Savoia. Championing the humble Bergamot fruit, ITALICUS is produced at a family-owned distillery in Moncalieri, Torino. Bergamot from the UNESCO-protected area in Calabria and cedro from Sicilia are infused in cold water to release their essential oils, in a time-honored process called Sfumatura, before being blended with Italian neutral grain spirits. A delicate combination of Roman chamomile from Lazio, lavender, gentian, yellow roses and melissa balm from Northern Italy are macerated together for several days before blending with the bergamot and cedro essential oils to create the final ITALICUS aperitivo.
