Manufacturer Pernod Ricard Vineyard History Miltonduff is one of the oldest and least known Speyside distilleries, established in 1824, and situated in the lush Garden of Scotland. Its distilling principles adopted 200 years ago have been unaltered and are still pursued to the present, allowing for consistency of flavour and quality. Amongst the least renowned Scottish distillers were the Benedictine monks in the 15th century. The river that runs through the distillery’s grounds, The Black Burn, is said to have been blessed by these monks and used in their brewing of aqua vitae (water of life/uisge beatha). Miltonduff has a delicate, floral essence, with warming notes of apple and aromatic spice. Everything is smaller than in new distilleries. Smaller stills. The whisky distilled from the smaller stills is thicker, richer and creamier than the product of the modern large vessels.
