The lush fruit is brought into balance by high tone herbal aromatics of mint, sage, and sweet tobacco. The distinctively thick-skinned Cabernet grapes provide a long, velvety finish. |

| Highest Score Review Copy | “Fruit driven, with aromas of dark fruit, dried flowers, spices, coffee beans and graphite. The palate is mid-weighted with fine-boned tannins, bright acidity and a long, mouthwatering finish. There’s lovely finesse that is tightly wound, with juicy, early-drinking appeal. Delicious. Drink or hold.” – Ryan Montgomery, March 2026 |
| Acclaim | 95 Points - Decanter. “Aged for 24 months in 30% new French oak barriques, the wine is sourced from Quartz Creek Vineyard in Oak Knoll and St Andrew Vineyard, also in Oak Knoll, both CCOF-certified organic sites. Reid Griggs succeeded Meagan Zobeck and oversaw the blending and bottling of the 2023 wines. The aim here is to craft a softer, restaurant-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon, and the result is bright, inviting, and immediately appealing. Crunchy red berry fruit is layered with chicory spice and cedarwood notes, while a gravelly, stony mineral texture and fine-grained tannins provide structure. The wine finishes with lingering cedarwood, loamy earth, and a subtle black olive nuance, delivering an expressive and gently persistent finish.” – Jonathan Cristaldi, March 2026 |

| Winery Description | Founded by Tom Burgess in 1972, the winery has been continuously owned and operated by the Burgess Family until the acquisition by the Lawrence Family in 2020. Burgess Cellars was purchased in 1972 from Lee Stewart of the original Souverain Winery which was located on the hillsides of Howell Mountain. The historic site drew some of Napa Valley's leading winemakers, including Mike Grgich and Warren Winiarski. In 2020 Steve Burgess passed the mantle to Gaylon Lawrence, upholding a 150-year tradition of family ownership. The winemaking and vineyard management teams embarked on an ambitious project; leading the way in regenerative and promiscuous farming in the Napa Valley in order to preserve historic vineyards and ensure the health of these vines for generations to come. |
