Vintage Wine Name Barbaresco Maria di Brün 2018 Vintage 2018 Wine Description The Maria di Brün is dedicated to Romano de Marengo's mother, who came from the township of Brün in Serralunga d'Alba. The wine is comprised of a specail selection of late-ripening Nebbiolo Michet grapes from the low yield vineyard left to the family by Maria Marengo. Region Piedmont Appellation Barbaresco Varietal Composition Nebbiolo Vineyard Details The winery’s vineyards in Barbaresco and Serralunga D’Alba consist of historic, marl-heavy soils and produce world-class, terroir-driven Barbaresco and Barolo wines. Tasting notes Garnet red in color. Complex and ample nose with aromas of violet and underbrush. Full, velvety and very balanced. Pairing notes Because of its structure and body, it pairs well with meat, game and cheese. It was founded by Romano Marengo in 1980 after a 30-year career in the wine industry, during which he dreamed of making his own terroir-driver wines. Today it is run by Romano’s children, Winemaker Giuseppe Marengo and Director of Operations, Paola Marengo. The Cà Romé philosophy is reflected in the name: Cà is short for casa, which means “home” and refers to Romano’s home and a winery that is run by a family, not a corporation.
