Vintage Wine Name Chablis Grand Cru Château Grenouilles 2022 Vintage 2022 Wine Description Sitting in the middle of the Colline des Grand Crus (hill of the Grand Crus) on the right bank of the Serein River, Grenouilles is the smallest of the Grand Crus and La Chablisienne owns over 75% of this climat. The name, which dates from the early 14th century, is a reference to the frogs that visit the vineyard from the Serein in the spring. Geology together with its excellent exposure deliver optimum ripeness and phenolic maturity, which yields generous wines with finesse, precision and strength; a complex tension gilded with minerality. Region Bourgogne Appellation Chablis Grand Cru AOC Varietal Composition 100% Chardonnay Vineyard Details Right bank of Serein at the center of the hill of Grand Crus with southwest exposure. 7.5 hectares of 9 hectares are owned by La Chablisienne and the average vine age is 40 years with the oldest vines planted in 1945. Soil is the best Kimmeridgian, with marls and marl limestone, and fossilized oyster shells. Tasting notes Opens with fresh and delicate lemon, bergamot and honeysuckle, which transition to mineral, saline notes providing a powerful, rich, balanced palate that finishes with good length and subtle white pepper notes. Pairing notes Pairs well with a variety of dishes including sushi, grilled lobster, poached sea bass, smoked salmon, pasta or poultry with cream sauces and aged cheeses. Winemaker Estelle Roy Winemaker Bio Estelle has been immersed in the gastronomic world with her family since her early childhood. The pleasure of eating and pairing food and wine from an early age has been a source of motivation for her professional pursuits. She obtained her national oenologist diploma (DNO) in Dijon and decided to specialize and refine her knowledge and expertise in the regions of Alsace, Beaujolais and Burgundy. Today her passion for winemaking starts in the vineyard, a bond strengthened by marriage as her husband is a winegrower. In May 2023, Estelle stepped in to the head winemaking role at La Chablisienne. Estelle strives to represent the best from each of the terroirs and to give a soul to each vintage.
