Vintage Wine Name Chablis 1er Cru Montmains 2023 Vintage 2023 Wine Description Montmains is a long, narrow, left bank Premier Cru with windy, southeast exposure, 20% grade slopes and an aspect similar to that of Vaillons, which is the parallel valley to the north. The morning sun, wind and clay-based soil provide an elegant, structured wine with notable freshness. Region Bourgogne Appellation Chablis 1er Cru AOC Varietal Composition 100% Chardonnay Vineyard Details Left bank of Serein, southeast exposure with elevation of 164-221 meters and average vine age that varies from 25 to 50 years. Soil is Kimmeridgian, with dense clay on top of the marls along with deposits of fossilized oyster shells. Tasting notes Aromas of fresh herbs and white-flesh fruits lead to mouthwatering minerality laced with tangy fruits and subtle spices, finishing with energy and intensity. Pairing notes Complements a variety of tempura, seafood, vegetable and poultry dishes, along with aged cheeses. La Chablisienne farms a diverse array of vineyards across the four appellations – Grand Cru, 1er Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis – so the wines truly represent the essence of each unique location. These elegant cuvées are known for their purity, energy and minerality. Winemaker Estelle Roy Winemaker Bio Estelle has been immersed in the gastronomic world with her family since her early childhood. The pleasure of eating and pairing food and wine from an early age has been a source of motivation for her professional pursuits. She obtained her national oenologist diploma (DNO) in Dijon and decided to specialize and refine her knowledge and expertise in the regions of Alsace, Beaujolais and Burgundy. Today her passion for winemaking starts in the vineyard, a bond strengthened by marriage as her husband is a winegrower. In May 2023, Estelle stepped in to the head winemaking role at La Chablisienne. Estelle strives to represent the best from each of the terroirs and to give a soul to each vintage.
