Vintage Wine Name Pouilly-Fuissé En Vergisson 2022 Vintage 2022 Wine Description This taut and expressive wine is sourced from the clay-limestone terroir of Vergisson within Pouilly-Fuissé. Region Bourgogne Appellation Pouilly-Fuissé Varietal Composition Chardonnay Vineyard Details The emblematic rocks of Solutré and Vergisson shelter the famous Pouilly-Fuissé vineyard. The appellation allows only one grape variety, chardonnay, and extends over four towns: Solutré-Pouilly, Fuissé, Chaintré and Vergisson. It is precisely on the clay-limestone terroir of Vergisson that Montille's Pouilly-Fuissé grapes grow. Tasting notes Attractive and finely delineated bouquet of orchard fruit and orange blossom. The entry is crisp and fresh with really nice notes of orange grind, lovely texture, growing into some warmer notes of dried apricot on the finish. A gorgeous Pouilly-Fuissé, both taut and extremely expressive. Alcohol % 12.5 Aging aged in all neutral oak barrels for about 12 months, then assembled to age additional months in stainless steel. In 2012, the Domaine became organic certified, and today the estate owns over 37 hectares, a majority that are Grand and 1er Crus. Winemaking utilizes whole cluster fermentations, long macerations and mostly neutral barrel aging. Today’s style is a classic and terroir-driven approach with great aromatic expression and unctuous textures in the reds and radiant purity and exemplary freshness and finesse in the whites. These ageworthy wines capture the essence of terroir. Now internationally renowned, the winery is known as equal parts pioneer and benchmark. Winemaker Etienne de Montille Winemaker Bio Etienne de Montille fell into his passion for wine when he was very young as a part of his family's business. He took over winemaking from his father, Hubert de Montille, in 1990, and began the shift towards organic farming (1995) and biodynamic farming (2005). Under his leadership, he expanded vineyard acquisitions in the Côte de Nuits (Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges) including Malconsorts in Vosne-Romanée, as well as Château de Puligny-Montrachet, which included around 15 ha of Chardonnay. He has augmented his father’s winegrowing philosophy and cemented the Domaine’s style: authenticity, longevity, purity, elegance and balance.
